Are there races where manual is mandatory? No sequential...just the left hand lean and prayers?

Hi folks, can anyone help me figure out what plugins I should get for the Gimp program to work with LFS? For some reason when I try to open my skin.dds files, Gimp cant see anything in the file. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong?
Am I suppose to convert the .dds file to .jpeg somehow in a separate folder or is there something simple that I am not seeing? Also I read a post where the guy recommended Gimpshop over Gimp but I cant find the download. I assume they are different programs. I have tried both the 64 bit and 32 bit versions of Gimp with no joy. Any help would sure be appreciated.

Well, I put in the plugin and all is well with paint.net but for some reason the Gimp program cant seem to find anything in the skins dds file of LFS.
I first tried the 64 bit version of Gimp and thought that might be the problem as they give a disclaimer on the download page that it may not work. So, I removed it and reinstalled the "stable" version and have the same problem.
I removed and replaced it a couple of times and it still finds nothing in the skins file. I don't know, guess I'll stick with the paint.net, it will get me started at least. I read through and followed the manual but maybe I am missing something? Beats me.

Bit of an odd name but apparently it is suppose to work alright, and it is the right price, FREE I'll give it a try and see how it works out. If it goes well then problem solved

Hi all, I am hoping to try my hand at skinning and have downloaded and read through the Gimp program and installed the CMX viewer and am more or less ready to go. I then went to Master Skinners and got a couple of their pro kits hoping to take advantage of the wire frame models and other goodies but the files are all compressed in a .rar format. Does anyone know if there are similar files anywhere in a .zip format? Something that would work with Vista 64 bit?

Howdy Yall, How goes the battle? I am a newbie to the skinning world and have been reading everything I can find, to help me design my own skins for LFS. But I am also a victim of our currant recession and can't fork out very much gold for any new paint programs. The only reason I even have for such a program is LFS. I down loaded "paint.net" for free, but am wondering if there are any better programs out there that I can use with LFS. The trouble I am having with "paint.net" is that there does not seem to be a 3D rendering option. You know, where the skin is broken down into geometric shapes and such. Any advice you can lend would be greatly appreciated.

lol, too true, one thing about it though is, now that it is set up to allow me to download and use these sets I've got no excuse for not turning out some kickass laps. If I still cant break 1:46 with a 1:42 setup then I have got to attribute my losses to "owner/operator".

Thank you guys for all your help but I am still having trouble understanding how this works. When I open up the lfs folder I find 3 applications. LFS, LFS S2 ALPHA Z1, and LFS RESTART. There are also the file folders Data and Docs along with a number of Text Documents. I cant seem to find LFS.EXE
I am running Vista 64 bit. After I get to "opens with" am I suppose to just start up LFS? When I tried this the setup was not there. Should I open the set in the Data setups folder?
Sorry for my confusion, but apparently I need an idiot proof method to solve this, I just don't want to screw up the LFS folder by adding something to the wrong place. Thanks for your patience,

Hi gang, I have a question that might seem silly, but not being a computer wiz, I find myself stuck when trying to use any setups that I download.
What is happening is, when I download a setup I am getting a file extension that is .set and windows does not know how to open it. Am I suppose to download a program to unzip these files or are there other setup files that work with windows that I should be downloading?

I think a track with a tunnel would be sexy.

Some how, suddenly, my g25 has gone crazy?
When I start and am in the car-hold/pits ,,, my front tires and wheel don't allign.
G25 self centered at start up, but game shows like I got my wheels cranked to the right?

O.k. thanks guys, I was keeping my foot in it during the shifts.. I'd get a little out of shape in a corner, then bang through the gears trying to gain back lost time. Guess I wont gain anything if I burn out the clutch.

Ahh, I see, so when I have overheated the clutch how long will I have to wait in order to return to the race? Or, am I done and out of it?

A few times while racing, I have lost power to the drive-train. The engine rev,s but the car will no longer move? What causes this?

Hi all, I am reasonably new to lfs, and have been practicing off line in single player since I bought my S2 and G25. The other day I tried to join a server and received a message telling me I had to have a certain lap time in order to join. This was due to the server wanting to keep slower drivers from causing problems during the race. Fair enough, no problem, my question is where do I go to post lap times? Do I have to run in Hotlaps or are my lap times in single player recorded in my stats?
Also, is there a way to view my overall stats for tracks? I mean if I am running blackwood, for instance, is there a way to see what my lap times were from previous runs?

What I ment was replays show a wobble on one cone, Hell, that could of been draft not bump.
Without that 2 sec. penalty Id of had the record. Doah!
